About Balsam

Built for the
markets that need it most.

We grew up watching family members chase medicine across three pharmacies before sunset, and watching pharmacy owners reconstruct receipts by candlelight when the power went out. Balsam exists because that should not be normal in 2026.

The supply chain is the patient experience.

Across MENA, more than half of medicine stockouts at the counter are not shortages — they are coordination failures. A pharmacy two blocks away has the box. The patient just does not know.

Balsam treats the medicine supply chain as the patient experience. Every line of code we ship is in service of a single question: did the right medicine reach the right person, on time? If the answer is no, we have not done our job.

We started in Sudan because the problem is sharpest there. We are now in Egypt, Yemen, and Somalia because the pattern repeats in every market we look at. Same medicine, same broken handoffs, same patients waiting.

VALUE_01

Medicine before metrics.

Every feature begins by asking whether it helps a patient get medicine faster, safer, or cheaper. If not, we do not build it.

VALUE_02

Offline is the default.

We design for the worst day, not the best. If it does not survive a 72-hour blackout, it is not ready for our market.

VALUE_03

Boring, durable, owned.

We pick boring technology, pay our bills locally, and own our infrastructure. Nothing about healthcare should be brittle.

54 people. Four cities. One ledger.

Pharmacists, engineers, supply-chain operators, regulators, designers. About 80% of the team are from the markets we serve.
